Community Tasting Notes 3

January 12, 2012 - Love the complexity and the beguiling nose. And I was concerned I'd ruined the bottle by leaving it overnight in a freezing car! Maybe I should have done that to the other bottle of this I'd already drunk, which wasn't that memorable!

August 20, 2008 - Tasted blind. Aromatics are definitely Italian. Piedmont? Probably. Nebbiolo? Possibly, but a touch riper. It's Barbera!! This had gorgeous aromatics that were almost Nebbiolo-like with dried cherry, leather, and tobacco. Slight earthiness, truffle, but with a huge streak of ripe red berry fruits througout. I found this to be more complex than I would ever expect from a Barbera, again almost Barbaresco-like. The palate is equally enjoyable. Had a little bit left over for day 2 and it softened up and the fruit was a bit riper. This is darn good juice!!!

June 11, 2008 - Vias and Aldo Vacca come to town: Beautiful, soaring aromatics. Some spices, and red fruits. Just a gorgeous nose for a barbera. The palate is similar to the nose, with great mouthwatering acidity. Lovely finish. A super barbera. Very enjoyable. Maybe not a super high scorer, but just so enjoyable.
