October 25, 2020 - 6 years since I last tried the 2004. It has put on some weight and gained gravitas since. The nose is very fragrant with red fruit and a distinct notes of rose and tar. The color also seems deeper red, but this is probably my imagination. It has gained body over the years with a satisfying middle and long finish. Its tannic side also seems more pronounced. I would say this has 5+ more good years ahead with some upside. Great QPR when I bought it. The 2013 and 2016 look worth putting in the cellar based on the 2004 evolution.

August 25, 2019 - Decanted for a few hours. What a beautiful wine right in the middle of its drinking window. A screaming nose of roses and tar with great legs that drip down the side of the glass. Still very dark with no signs of bricking. Perfect balance of fruit acid and tannins (FAT). Paired very well with filet on the grill. Tonight singing. Sorry that it’s my last bottle but gives me great view of the 2004 vintage.

June 12, 2019 - Still young & tannic for my palate - good complexity & balance

May 8, 2019 - Garnet color with brick around the edges. Decanted for 5 hours before drinking. Aromas of smoke, earth, tobacco and a hint of spice. Flavors of plums, dried tart cherries and tobacco. Even after decanting for five hours the tannins are rather harsh and over power the fruit. Medium body with a medium finish. It will be nice to try in ten years. I would call it a middle of the road Barolo. Paired it with lamb Osso Bucco and it was okay. A little more acid would have helped cut through the fat.
