February 7, 2024 - Seems like a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry maturation, lots of acacia honey, sugar powder, some citrusy orange but also lots of iodine, tweed/socks/wet dog and a little rust. No metallic tones of youth, but slightly bitter in the length, a little heat on the palate, not surprising at 58% abv. Not too elegant or differentiated, so as not to say a bit rough, but compensates with power and concentration. Good news: a splash of water will produce “Scotch mist”, therefore probably not sanitized. Frankly, its taste is a bit reminiscent of my last bottle of Bowmore 12, but younger. Good qpr, still won’t buy again apart from offers.

Really CS at exactly 58%Abv. and such a low Abv for a rather young vatted or single malt ?
However no matter what, this is a very nice whisky and bang for the buck !
Lots of peat and some smoke.
Clean, soft, smooth, no alcohol burn and no problem drinking it at 56 to 58%.
It also blends very well with the standard Drambuie, giving an approx. 50/50 blend with a bit of water a light fresh style.

March 29, 2015 - Requires a touch of water for sure and our friend who offered this to us actually insisted on a small ice cube. a wise choice.
For the lovers of peaty, smoky malts and well mellow, round drink. Pretty solid and enjoyable.

February 9, 2008 - De bedste af de bedste - ifølge Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2008, ved Al Jones (København): Farve: 5 - mørkt rav,

Aroma: Fed, jern, iod, bål, ll. sprit,

    Smag: Tjære, røg, bålet,

    Eftersmag: Tjære, salt, grape, træ,

Lagavulin i ulveklæder. Mærkelig sukkerklistret! Afdæmpet - ligesom den prøver, men bare ikke kan! 75
