Community Tasting Notes 30

March 30, 2023 - The wine is showing it's maturity. Brick orange rim mushroom on the nose and raisin and all tertiary notes on the palate. It's a little to far past for my wheelhouse. I have recently drank the 2005 Clarendon Hills Piggot which still had tons of life compared to Vineyard/Vintage.

January 21, 2022 - Once again, as in 2018. Strong chocolate, tart berry. Spice. Wunderbar. 2 - 3 hour decant is still warranted.

October 16, 2021 - Complex bouquet of blackberries, leather, cedary oak, cola and curry spices. Rich, spicy and full of minerality on the palate. Good level of freshness running though the core of the full-bodied mid-palate, leading to a seamless transitions to the finish. Open and drink immediately to enjoy the depth of flavours and power. Given the balance, this should hold for the next 3-5 years if cellar well.

May 29, 2021 - Deep purple with some brick at edges. Supple and smooth, but with a bit of edge on open, decanted half bottle. Blackberry, earth, aged purple fruit, bit of vanilla, tobacco, well balanced with some finesse on finish, not hot or jammy at all. Rather integrated tannin, light acidity, hints of sweetness in the fruit, good length, full body. Seems to be in perfect window, and considering notes over last several years, a bit more age has been beneficial. Served with St Louis ribs with rub braised then grilled with whiskey sauce. Great pairing.

November 19, 2019 - Australian Syrah/Shiraz Night (Singapore, Marina Bay): Intense smooth, ripe, dark fruit coupled with tar, smoke, tobacco, and a backbone with grip that doesn't overpower. There's a sense of heaviness though that more focus and purity of fruit would have dispelled. Otherwise, years left for this delicious wine to continue its development.
