May 19, 2020 - Dark cherry and berries still meet the tongue. Tannins and spices start to overwhelm on the back of the tongue. Black pepper and spicy licorice as a finish. Possibly past it’s prime. Time to enjoy the last few bottles of this and the 2007 Sonoma. Still quite enjoyable.

October 16, 2019 - Big black cherry and potting soil flavors. Lesser notes of mint and baking spices. Too black, ripe, and sweet to satisfies my pinot desires. Lacks the intrigue of Burgundy. But the quality is high.

January 20, 2019 - Still going strong, red cherry notes, caramel, great mouthfeel.

November 27, 2018 - Although Kosta Browne recommends drinking this wine by 2015 on its webpage, I quite like the way it's drinking now. It has a very complex flavor profile that includes lip-smacking, almost candied red fruit, baking spices, root beer, and even a little smoked meat. The "cherry cola" effect seems to go beyond the flavor and into the mouthfeel, almost like carbonation; I'm not sure why that is. I'm not sure I entirely like the "cherry cola" effect, but it's distinctive to pinot wines in this region, and I recognize that I have a bias against California wines. Perhaps this is what "real pinot" should taste like. It is delicious, and it still tastes rather fresh. The winemaker was wrong about the aging profile. That said, I recommend drinking now.
