April 1, 2015 - Dark garnet color. Mild sediment. Mild rim variation. Low to medium fruit and old world intensity. Dark florals and fruits. No tannin. Low acid. Low alcohol. Medium finish. Paired perfectly with short rib hamburgers. Certainly ready to drink. Think likely at peak or just slightly beyond.

February 9, 2015 - Cloudy (unfiltered?) ruby/garnet in color. Aromas of perfumed roses and rosewater, blackberries, wet rocks, light tar, and creosote. Flavors of earth, red raspberries, peat – still structured.

Day 2 was much different with the roses integrating and wintergreen and smoke adding to the nose. The flavors were rounder and darker, and black pepper emerged, with the tannins softer but still evident.

December 14, 2014 - Nicely layered rich and meaty CA Syrah, with powerful black fruit aromas lifted by saline and lavender elements on the palate. Peaking now through 2016.

September 23, 2014 - Excellent, though a little less complex than the 2003 Copain Hawk's Butte that followed it. Lovely Napa Syrah; very well integrated with soft red and black forest fruit. Probably time to drink up within the year.

June 8, 2014 - Still dark and brooding. Nose of red cooked fruit. Wood is integrated. In a really good spot for a on the spot consumption.

January 4, 2014 - Drinking pretty well. Needed 30 mins to 1 hour to open up. Fruit, earth and leather on the nose. Nice finish with modest acidity. Not a lot of jaminess/sugar so I would say it has a lot of the CA style on the nose and some Rhone aspects on the finish (lacking some of the over ripe sugar).

November 30, 2013 - Drank w/ buffalo carpaccio and grilled lamb in Beaver Creek. Beautiful straight out of the bottle, did not decant but opened nicely over the next hour. Shy nose. Dark fruits and some spice, nice texture. Delicious now.

February 16, 2012 - This is the second bottle that was undrinkable. I don't know what caused the problem, it just tasted well past its prime.
