June 9, 2019 - Purchased upon release and moved across halfway cross country twice. No seepage though as noted elsewhere, the wine has migrated about halfway up the cork on one side. Tasted side-by-side out of both syrah and burgundy stems.

The wine was a bit flat and closed down upon opening, but within a half hour this had opened up nicely. While my wife prefer the wine out of the Pinot stem, I found the wine more concentrated, with dark and red fruit flavors out of a Syrah stem. in both cases the wind was more fruit driven as the headache back bone had largely faded.

Followed over nearly 3 hours, this is a nicely aged CDP what is clearly moving towards the back of its life, though it’s possible the multiple moves have advanced the drinking window 1-3 years.

March 9, 2019 - Wine soaked cork, but the wine is fine. Consistent with my previous notes.

January 19, 2019 - Opened to breathe for 2h. Cork fully saturated, uh oh. But the wine is not damaged. Phew! This wine really needs 1-2h of air, in the early stages after opening it is still hot (alcohol) and disjointed. As it settles down, it becomes consistent with my previous notes, lots of mineral, graphite olives, sweet notes (no, this is not Amarone) and a nice if jammy finish.

January 16, 2019 - Black fruits, herbs, chocolate. Medium to high alcohol that was pronounced and noticeable. You could tell this was a big warm year. And it was very ripe and sweet. I am not a big CNDP fan. But I found this too much. And didn't really enjoy.

  • Claret & CdP Gang Likes this wine:

January 16, 2019 - Served blind, ripe, rich, black fruits, herbs, sweet Grenache, delicious aged cdp, needs to be served cool around 15-17 degrees as it became a bit brawny, jammy when warm with the alcohol heat showing
