December 4, 2014 - Fairly restrained nose, some dusty cherry and a leafy cabernet note coming through - it seems like this wine is pretty backwards at the moment. In the mouth it is rather medium weighted, very smooth, again with a somehow muted cherry and again the leafy but a bit sweet cabernet again...hard to say if this on the way downwards, my guess is, that it will blossom up in 2-3 years time.

December 2, 2013 - Ruby purple color to the edge. Earthy, brambly, herb tinged blackberry fruit with an ashy edge. Bright and deep flavors of ash - herb - leather spiced blackberry fruit with a dark cherry skin tartness and tannins coming in on the rear palate. Very good with food as it absorbs the rustic edges. This kept improving for several hours, growing more complex while never losing its deep fruit or edgy tannins. Hard to say where it will go, but I expect this wine to last several more years at this level and also to never fully resolve the edginess. It seems much younger today than 18 years.

June 11, 2012 - let this one go too long, still drinkable. My storage was not the best though.

May 5, 2012 - Medium dark red. Dark fruit nose with some nuttiness and caramel as well as a bit of earthiness. Quite developed and delicious but just not as traditional as the funky earthy 98.

March 12, 2012 - This has done a good job of absorbing its oak over the past few years. Comes across as much darker and more youthful than the '89 La Louvière Graves that preceded this wine. The palate is dark and still rather vigorous, although smoothed around the edges from time in the cellar. Plenty of dried spices on the nose and palate, more black fruited than red, long in the mouth, smooth at the sides. Pretty good showing, much more impressive than this wine showed a few years ago. Drink now. Blackstone's Steakhouse with the Westport guys.
