April 16, 2016 - Above all blueberry but also Coffee fire smoke tangerine sparkles bacon black cherry anise. Balsamic spread apart. Double rainbow.
March 8, 2014 - Drank from March 8 through March 24. Best the first few days. Melted caramel, toffee, orange and maple notes are very impressive and warming.
November 23, 2012 - With Thanksgiving dessert of stilton and chocolate. Just phenomenal. I don't have much experience with tawnies in general or colheitas specifically, but this was phenomenally mellow, soft, and complex. Worth seeking out.
October 20, 2012 - Served blind. This showed more notes of oxidation on the nose than most of the other wines in the lineup being somewhat Sherry like and in a pleasing way. Rich, broad, robust palate buffered by terrific acidity. Not a lot of complexity but the most balanced impressive wine of the lineup for me. Voted it #1.
February 14, 2012 - Amazing nose..almost like pralines and cream. I could have smelled it all night. Even more amazing on the palate. Buttery caramel, nutty, oaky. Very complex and very balanced. You don't want to stop drinking it. It paired well with a chocolate molten lava cake for a great ending to our Valentine's Day.
February 8, 2011 - Caramel colored with a glint of red. Antique furniture store and a hint of maple syrup on the nose. Beautifully balanced palate of toffee, nuts, and chocolate covered cherries. Not that sweet, just sweet enough. A bit of heat upon opening that went away with time. Complex with a long finish worthy of contemplation. Outstanding.
December 25, 2010 - Exceptionally smooth - nose of nutty maple followed by similar tastes.
September 30, 2006 - Nutty, caramel with a bit of maple syrup. A bit hot right out of the bottle, but with 20 minutes in the glass it really settles down. Very nice bottle of wine. Would purchase again for a special occasion.
