March 2, 2023 - Lovely wine, with all the elements well integrated. Great nose.

Needed to be decanted as it was a touch bit too lively when opened (despite the moldy label). Showed great evolution over the evening with a great nose. My favorite moments where about an 45 minutes after being decanted, where all tertiary elements showed with a deep, rounded cherry note.

December 5, 2021 - 100% Sangiovese. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, iron, cigar box and wet leaves. Medium body with perfect acidity. Light, lithe and incredible elegant with a surprising sense of power. Dried cherries, blood, tobacco and spice on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Just a great vintage of this wine that has drank well for the last decade. Sadly my last bottle but certainly ready to drink.

November 8, 2021 - Pergole Torte lunch (Chicago, IL): Unsurprisingly the most mature of the PTs we had today. This is fully resolved and perhaps even just a hair past peak, as this seems to be just starting to pick up a slight metallic tinge. Nonetheless, there is immense complexity here, alongside a pot-pourri/drying red fruit profile. The tannins have been fully resolved and most of the flavours here are of secondary persuasion.

August 3, 2021 - Rare wines: One-third soaked cork. Very good, but lacked the x-factor of the 2006 I had earlier this year. Some VA and ripe plum on the nose, rather soft and velvety tannins. Still a lovely balance with an elegant finish but not as seductive as the 2006.

August 3, 2021 - Unfortunately, this was drunk too fast for the wine to fully reveal itself. But when it did for a quick glimpse, it was an amazing experience. Sangiovese in purezza!

It took a while to coax out it out of the glass, it had this beautiful balance to it and a tad sweetness on the finish that provided a great lift to the wine.
