February 16, 2024 - Layers of earth, smoke, and tobacco on the nose, underpinned by rich notes of leather and mushroom. A meaty essence adds to the wine's depth, suggesting a well-integrated maturity.

On the palate, a medium body that elegantly carries soft notes of red fruits, blending with savoury meat nuances. Enough acidity there to provide balance. Soft tannins contribute to a smooth and velvety mouthfeel and enjoyable and medium length finish.

Not sure it will improve from here. Bought for £34 in 2010 from the Wine Society so VGV.

December 25, 2023 - Notes of black and red fruited on the nose - there’s subtle vanilla and spices. The palate is silky smooth with a touch of grip, the bright acidity balances the berry fruit. There’s a little smoky, meaty note that comes through on the finish. Lovely to drink now, but there’s no rush at all on these. Superb.

December 2, 2023 - Have to admit, I never seen this label before of Ygay GR. Made from 93% Tempranillo and 7% Mazuelo, aged in US oak for 31 month, 10 months new and additional 36 months in bottle. Deep ruby colour. Intense aroma of cassis, smoke, blackberries, violets, earth, strawberries, stewed plums, hints of mushrooms. Medium body, rich and complex, but not as deep as 2010. Flavours of prunes, dried cherries, tobacco, medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins. Feels at its peak now, dont think it will evolve any further, so drink up.

November 25, 2023 - Drinking well, but I wouldn’t age this much longer. It doesn’t feel like a wine that will hold another 10-20 years.

October 26, 2023 - Unfortunately this wine was oxidized and essentially undrinkable. What a shame. Have a few more bottles left. And we drink this quite often. Oh well when someone lose some.

    April 2, 2023 - 1/1, excellent cork. Not decanted, served at 15C.
Lovely black and red fruited nose - blackcurrant but also flashes of strawberry, vanilla, hint of smoke, plenty of spice. Medium/full bodeid, blackcurrant and strawberry again, some savoury meat, lovely soft tannins, vibrant acidity carrying an extended, harmonious finish. Complete, delicious - drinking well but clearly no hurry. Excellent/outstanding.
