March 11, 2010 - Very good. The best of the French chardonnays so far.

December 20, 2009 - Some bottle variation on the 5 bottles consumed so far. This one OK with quite developed nose and good mineral notes and acidity on palate. However, there is something a bit "funky/dirty" that bothers me.

(SEREINE Chablisienne) Chablis Dear Friends, Here are two top examples of Chablis in their price range. Once again, I cannot stress the fleeting opportunity on white Burgundy under $20. With the dollar’s decline, a wine like the Sereine will be $25-30 next year? Who will support that? I’ve started to see landed prices on 2006 Chablis and it makes my stomach turn. Take advantage of a deal we made in the spring of 2006 - both are priced at levels that should be about the same as in Europe: 2005 La Chablisienne Chablis “La Sereine” The final cuvee of this wine was not reviewed by Burghound but it is a lovely example - one to enjoy without pontification or banter. Many of you could drink this several times per week and it is a strong contender for an upper-end house wine. It is a nice cross in style between the intense fruit of 2005 and the more piquant, terroir-focussed 2004s: 2004 La Chablisienne Chablis “Le Preuses” Grand Cru My affection for 2004 Chablis and 2004 white Burgundy in general is no secret. It is one of my favorite vintages of the last decade across the board and I can’t help but think transparent vintages with clarity and lower alcohol may be a thing of the past. If you count 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2005 as ripe years, it makes 2004 stand alone (although in the Cote d’Or, 2001 was also an outstanding year of focus and verve). This wine represents a great buy in the top-tier and it should age into a classic rendition of Chablis. A fabulous wine no matter how you slice it: ” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg3990 Burg3980
