Community Tasting Notes 4

October 3, 2010 - Amazingly (for the vintage) the thing this wine lacks is ripeness. It's easily 2-3 years away from peak as its tannins, acidity and fruit (raspberry) were still quite prominent after 24 hours. But its almost too dry...no green notes, but not enough ripeness to keep bringing your mouth back to the glass. From someone that despises most California wine, the fact that I disliked this wine, for this reason, is somewhat ironic.

That said, very balanced, elegant nose and showing the "black tea" type thing that I have come to associate with Gigondas...Will wait three years to open my other bottle.

August 1, 2010 - Medium crimson red. Black cherry, pepper, ham, old leather nose. A little to the jammy side, with cherry and grape jelly. Less of the ham/bacon/leather than ideal. Medium finish.

February 26, 2010 - Enjoyable bottle of Cotes du Rhone offering red raspberries and leather in an easy drinking style.
