January 24, 2010 - I'm giving this wine a 90 because it flat out wrestled me to the ground, demanded respect and got it. We knew it would be a gnarler. It was opened on the 23rd, last night, as we dressed the big fat legendary wild hog that we would roast for two days. On the 24th I drank a glass as I chopped garlic. The next morning I was missing the enamel on my teeth, the polish on my toenails, and the hair on my chest. I gave it another try a day later, as we snacked on fresh deep-fried fried hog epidermis and arugula salad, and it was still A Problem Child. "If you were drinking this in some shit-smelling taverna in Corsica you'd be Twittering all over the place about how much you're loving this '''rustic''' freaking vino," my son Sam said.

October 31, 2009 - Decanted and drank over the course of about 2 hours, with the final sip being the best. On the nose there was some leather and fall leaves--very St. Julien in style. Tasted olives, touch of pencil lead, and maraschino cherry. It was a little coarse with the tannins, but there was nice acidity. Some salty cracker on the end-palate. Length of ~30 seconds, with good complexity and some nuance. Overall I thought this was a very nice wine especially considering the price, and I'd buy it again. Lots of character, and reminded me of a baby Ch. Lagrange.

April 20, 2009 - Niellucio and Sciacarello blend.
Interesting nose with minty and smoky notes with cherry. med body, grippy tannins, this needs a few more years to come together. More earthy notes and a touch of bell pepper on the palate with a long smoky finish.
    Well done. Wait 3-4 years.

May 21, 2008 - Started out very sketchy. Acidic, green, and tannic. The pizza toned it down. Second day brought in some olive and leather notes. The last day finally some fruit, cherry juice and totally obvious tobasco note on the nose. I warmed up to it in the end, but definitely not for everyonoe. You've got to be into rustic wine. Extremely dry finish, but just too short to score it any higher. Definitely a food wine. Funny how it kind of fits the geography in that it smells and tastes like a mix between a wine from southern France and one from Italy.
