November 30, 2017 - Slight TCA. Underlying material is fine, not exciting.

  • Cote d'Or Likes this wine:

    May 19, 2016 - tasted over 2 hrs
    -translucent light/med gold
    -rich, mature white burg
-med acidity at the core and kicks in with a bit more verve on the finish, med/med+ weight and concentration, some mature elements of wax/lanolin with a warm slightly nutty richness, good length with a bit of discreet oak evident on the finish
-this is really quite lovely now and retains enough freshness to expect it will continue to drink well for several more years; don't have a lot of experience with >30 year old white burgs but this is pretty special and I imagine what a solid fully mature pre-prem-ox white burg should be

April 15, 2016 - Rich, creamy, licorice. Holding up surprisingly well.

April 15, 2016 - Pretty good showing. Holding up well for the age and showing everything you'd expect from an older white burg. Didn't have the energy and bliss I'd encountered in other bottles, but still quite good.

January 8, 2016 - Annual holiday dinner with DC winos: fabulous wines kick off 2016! (Ripple Restaurant in Washington D.C.): What does a score here mean? Frankly, I could give it a higher number since this is what older Burgundy is all about. Nitpick criticism could be that a higher score would mean a somewhat fuller body? I have no clue. All I know is that this was crisp, fresh, with some lemon/lime aspects as well as a wet stone/earthiness that was not tired whatsoever. And this is nearly 35 years old. Premox? Before that became a problem, for whatever the reason. Thank you Howard Cooper for sharing this: what a way to start a great holiday dinner!
