December 1, 2011 - Aired about ½ hour in the glass. Very very oaky aromas. The palate delivered tons of oak with rather vibrant dark sour cherries.Vibrant and firm tannins.Slightly bitter finish. Not much funk or other tertiary flavors, or if there was any it was overpowered by the oak. Not really my cup of tea.
2:nd day notes: The oaky flavors had blown away and the taste showed more funky notes, being quite good.

January 9, 2010 - One of my best Rioja so far!

Aroma: Nuanced with lovely fruit (strawberry, cherry), smokey oak, dill and spices.
Flavour: Pleasant with good acidity, long finish and soft tannines. Medium full body.

I really enjoyed this wine! Nuanced and balanced with lovely fruit. We drank the wine in 2 hours and at the end it lost it's fruit and the oak and spices became evident. Only decanted 20 minutes. If I had a cellar I would buy some more. If I have to complain about something I would say that the body wasn't full enough, I want even more.

February 6, 2009 - Very nice wine. Dark brick color. The nose is perfumed and showing complexity. The mouth is fruity and a bit spicy with oak and vanilla, smooth and elegant. Medium-long finish. I think this wine has reached its maturity (10 years) and should be drunk now. Very good value for price.

January 24, 2009 - Rioja and Jerez with Doug Frost: Cedery, mature nose, which is quite enjoyable. Lots going on in the medium bodied palate, including spices, ceder, and red fruits. Great acidity, and this is really well structured. Medium+ finish. Very nice to drink, and in a good spot right now.

January 24, 2009 - Boston Wine Expo Rioja and Jerez Seminar (Seaport Hotel): Brickish red. Minty, chalky, dusty nose. Raisny, tart red fruits. Little bit of fine grained tannins. Medium bodied. Very well balanced with nice acidity. Dry.
