April 23, 2020 - Improved since the last time I drank this. Not as green but still has some hints. Much more resolved tannins and got better with more air. Could do with a couple more years, but not sure if the Greeness will disappear entirely.

April 13, 2020 - Kept under condition 1 since september 2012 (see my profile). Color: dark ruby-purple with orange rims. Nose: smoke and cedar and some bell pepper. Taste: fresh red and some dark fruit. Rather juicy. Still al little bit harsh because of unresolved tannins. With mature notes and an interesting amount of depth. The alcohol is with 12% agreeably modest. Allthough the elements are relatively rough, it was well balanced. A really attractive, well drinkable wine in this difficult vintage for Medoc. To drink within one, maybe two years. 91-92.

March 18, 2020 - As many have pointed out, drinks well right now. Didn't need much decanting either. A classic Bordeaux wine, well balanced with dark fruit and earthy notes, a savory wine. One of the better 07' I have had.

March 17, 2020 - Popped and poured, and drank over two hours. Good to go right out of the bottle. Fragrant nose. Super dark in the glass made me worried it would be too tannic, but I was instead rewarded with a maturing Bordeaux with luscious dark fruit.

November 30, 2019 - Had a touch of sulphites on the nose. Complex nose. Light purple color. Drank after 2 hr decant. Long finish. Dark berries, spice on the nose. Reticent wine, characteristic of St Estephe. Honestly I expected better. Underwhelmed.

(Château Montrose (St Estèphe)) If you like green (and personally I'm definitely not allergic to it) then this is the wine for you. This has a firm green streak running though the aromatic profile, quite dominant in fact, with immediate suggestions of green peppercorn and smoked mint. The palate has a supple and quite nicely formed structure, with a fine seam of quite grainy tannins which are impressive for the vintage, perhaps becoming rather more coarse towards the middle, with much less prominent acidity than I was expecting after that impression on the nose. There is a perfumed red-fruit edge to it as well. Quite well integrated and elegant on the palate. There is some astringency here though. But overall I would take it rather than leave it.

(Chateau Montrose St Estèphe) This is 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, with 60% new barrels. A dense hue, and on the nose little more than some smoky, brooding fruit. Very complete style on the palate, easy and approachable with some substance. The tannins are well covered, and there is some texture which is impressive for the vintage. It seems ripe, and impressive in terms of its dry structure. Fresh acids too. There is some potential here.
