November 26, 2023 - Doing fine, lacking definition, but a solid 21 yr Riesling

July 27, 2023 - Opened my second to last bottle. Crumbling cork. Dead and gone. No Acid. No life. Sigh. So I opened my last. Cork was soaked through and through. But the second bottle was alive and beautiful. Apple sauce, cinnamon, limoncello with some herbal notes. Just great stuff. When I opned the first bottle it made me wonder why I age this stuff. The second reminded me why I do.

September 12, 2022 - Note from day two. Gorgeous and probably in its window. Aromas of apple and peach preserves, limoncello, honeysuckle, a touch of sage and toasted spiced nuts. Bright and citrusy on the palate, silky and full, sweet but so juicy and lively, a little pithy and herbal grip. Long finish features sweet lemon candy notes and complex herbal and spice tones. This will keep going for another decade+ but it's in a great place now.

August 20, 2022 - Bit of a leaker with a fairly soft cork, but the wine was unperturbed. Nice diesel and lime zest on the nose. Lovely energy on the palate, amazed this is 20 years old. Fantastic sweet and sour, slate and salt, pineapple and lime zest. Really dancing and light, just lovely.

September 30, 2021 - Nose is a bit less ripe now than I recall, with more ginger poking through and just a hint of nuttiness. Beautiful balance in the medium weight mouth, and still plenty of acidity in the long finish. Drinking really well right now, and feels like this has a few more years of prime drinking left.

(Leitz Rudesheimer Magdalenenkreuz Riesling Spatlese) Tangerines, minerals, bbq sauce? Lots of red fruits. Nice intensity with a nice deep grapefruit flavor/ Tremendous minerality on the finish. Long and focused but I enjoyed the raciness and higher acids of Leitz's '01's personally.
