September 3, 2021 - Very consistent drinking experience to last 2 bottles. This wine received more air then the previous 2 bottles thus probably drinking as well as it can right now hence the slightly higher score. It needs air, is drinking beautifully, paired perfectly with coq au vin, highly recommend but also time to drink up any remaing holdings - no upside to further cellaring and probably slightly past peak.

August 29, 2021 - We recently acquired quite a few of these bottles as part of a much larger cellar contents purchase. This 2nd bottle even better then the 1st and we really had no expectations for this wine at all. An easy 91+ tonight despite 26 years of age - opened up much earlier then the 1st bottle and run through a filter / aerator. Really excellent given the price and relatively low end producer. Very soft with oak and tannins all gone so need to drink up any remaining holdings in the next 1-2 years max. Soft dark nose with a surprisingly herbacious initial palate and then dark fruit and cloves pop in. Medium length aftertaste.

August 13, 2021 - Still showing very strong, drinking beautifully after about 30 minutes in the glass and holding it's own but tannins completely integrated so this wine is not far from starting to degrade and lose fruit - time to drink up any remaining holdings.

June 5, 2020 - This particular bottle came across a little tired.
The fill level and cork were both excellent.
The tannins now seem fully dissolved and significant evolution has taken place since last year. Still satisfying and good representation of a simple Cru Bourgeois but time to drink up!

March 27, 2020 - Records not handy. Bought several at least 15 years ago--probably less than 20/b (I recall buying halves for less than 10/hb) and probably from Binny's or Sam's; this is not #1. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark purple; reticent cassis nose, some tar; black fruits, subtle, hint of sorghum, good mouthfeel. Serious but not complex, thoroughly enjoyed but not easy. Older La Cardonnes I've tried have this style. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable when considering quality, age, and price.
