Community Tasting Notes 10

December 25, 2022 - Christmas Day 2022 (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of a little caramel, touch of white pepper and plenty of spice over quite dark and slightly brooding fruit, meaty and sous bois notes in support - lots going on but none of it shouting. Savoury, juicy, quite round on the palate, elegant and balanced, the duck lends this a little freshness as well. Nice.

January 9, 2021 - Lamb off! (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Aromas of plums, caramel and vanilla oak, sweet spice, a little toast, more dark hued fruit than last tasting, a little savoury spice here as well. Fleshy rather than juicy, alcohol warmth, similar flavours, slight aniseed, tannic grip is softly textured but very present. Tastes younger than its years.

December 26, 2020 - Boxing Day 2020 (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Slight oak, toast and red berry compote backed by earth, leather and sweet spice on the nose. In the mouth it's juicy, berried fruit, plenty of tannic grip grabs at the mid-palate - far better than the tap I gave it a month of so ago; possibly a touch of bottle shock last time? Matches well to the duck.

November 11, 2020 - From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas of strawberries and earth, but initially this is surprisingly lightweight for a Corton. With time (and agitation) it starts to show a little more earth, leather, clove, brambles and spice. In the mouth its just the right side of sourly juicy with brambles, meat extract, a little savoury, textured grip. I also get a little alcohol warmth on the back palate. Hmm.
