August 10, 2022 - It is now finally ready! Immensely complex and multilayered. Nuts, candied fruit, honey, gunpowder, lanolin, curry, marzipan, wood... The palate starts with full attack of smoky aromas. There is much body and a saline finish that lasts forever.

June 29, 2019 - I decanted this wine about 3 hours before I served it. It was lovely but probably needed a little more time in the decanter. Absolutely bone dry. Saline, mineral, wet stones, hazelnut, sherry, and hints of quinine with honey suckle. Expansive on the extremely long palate. I dearly love vin Jaune!!

August 11, 2017 - For those who love vin jaune this is an excellent wine. Very dry honeysuckle. Stone and mineral flavors. Nut and stone flavors. Very Sherry like. Just a great wine. Other than Overnoy this is as good as it gets.

February 8, 2014 - Great tasting note just below this one but I also happen to completely disagree. In any case...
After swearing that there were no back vintages to be had, for purchase, tasting, for anything, Madame brings out this 1990 after a significant amount of buttering up (which was fun for all parties concerned).
In one of the 2006 issues of The Art of Eating the author describes the character of vin jaune (and gives a precise chemical name to its smell) that I can't remember. but I do remember that this smell can go from green bruised apples, to a rich rancio, all the way to a curry taste.
Here, to my palate, was an absolute grand statement of rich, toothsome, absolutely wonderfully rancio vin jaune, right in its prime (the Madame also noted it had been open for four days, which did not seem to concern her. And quite frankly, every other producer in the Jura also seemed unconcerned when pouring bottles that "are just barely coming around at 10 days open).
To me extraordinary stuff here.1 person found this helpful Comment
