  February 10, 2018 - A little strident out of the bottle, mellowed wonderfully on Day 2. Silky up front with the powerful backbone you expect from a RR zin. Not my preferred style, but well made and if not at its absolute peak, still in fine form. Feels like a $40 bottle, almost twice what it seems many of us paid.

  February 24, 2017 - I guess this is why you don't let California Zins get too old. All the tannins and backbone are gone, leaving only slightly silky fruit. Not jammy or filled with character, just plummy and fat. Having said that, I LOVE Gamba and will always love it. Ultimately, it was nice to say good-bye to an old friend. I've got plenty of younger Gambage that I will be devouring.

  December 24, 2016 - Certainly a little past it's absolute prime, still a really nice bottle. Drunk over 2 days and it mellowed over the 24 hours. Rich and deep, this must have been huge a few years ago. Drank with lamb chops on night one and pork chops on night two.

  October 3, 2015 - PnD. Bright crimson with some slight bricking. Very translucent with lots of fine legs. Deep cherry on the nose with some creamy vanilla. Quite perfumey with some cedar tones. Fruit has mellowed quite a bit
  
  Enjoyed in a Riedel Vinum Chianti Classico glass at 63F.
