July 7, 2020 - Fully mature, mushroom, leather and graphite, still some dark fruit. Nice sweetness to this and went well with Lamb. Most of the case had been drank a few years ago but it’s still holding its own beautifully. No point holding much longer, great example of why it’s worth buying ‘average vintages’ as well as the lauded ones. Fills the gaps and you don’t mind opening on a Tuesday evening!!

November 9, 2017 - Believe it or not but drank this side by side with a 2003 Margaux and this held its own as the first growth underwhelmed tonight.

September 29, 2017 - Tasted as part of a blind Bordeaux tasting. We ended up having two bottles of this served one after the other, totally without knowing it. What it shows is bottle variation exists!

Bottle 1: Tight nose, with graphite, cassis and subtle tobacco. Palate is a touch unforgiving, tannic and tight. Cassis, blueberrries, dark plums. Good not great.

Bottle 2: Brooding nose, touch of heat, cassis and cocoa. Palate is deep and dark, fruit driven and smooth, tannins on the close showing the wine as a touch "grumpy".

no one picked them as the same wine, including 2 winemakers and a Master Somm!

June 26, 2017 - Forest floor, tobacco, ripe cherry. Went well with grilled strip steak
