March 24, 2020 - Wow. I had no expectations for this due to the age, however this was a very pleasant surprise. Smooth as silk and possessing a long finish.

November 19, 2014 - Opened at Lacha Somtum in Thai Town, Hollywood, CA on 11/19/14. Enjoyed with catfish papaya salad, tamarind fish soup and grilled beef. I was absolutely not prepared for how magnificent this bottle would be. For the price (reg. $50 on sale for $25 at K&L), I can honestly say this was the best bargain bottle I ever purchased. I opened it 1.5 hours prior to drinking which turned out to be ideal. Lots of blackberry and pepper, but not a powerhouse. This was better than a few $100+ Syrahs I've tried recently. Very, very nice.

February 3, 2014 - The maturity of this bottle made it prime to be consumed, and I am glad we did not wait much longer. Fruits were still present, but definitely mellowed, making it drink more to our liking. I would describe the taste as old world with a more subdued palette.

May 2, 2011 - Really really nice. Well crafted in an old world way. Leather, pepper dried fruit on the nose. Caramel? Pretty rich mouth feel, big tight red blue fruit wave the a pretty tight tannin oak acid finish, all balanced. Still pretty young, or just needs a few hours.

April 22, 2011 - Beautiful dark purple to black color. Dark and rich fruit with very nice balance. Soft tannins that linger nicely. Highly drinkable now, but will try to wait another 3 years before opening next bottle. Another great effort from Gerhard.

February 1, 2011 - Dark and rich. Really sweet jammy black and dark red fruits, some caramel oak and toasted oats. Good stuff. Balanced. Red velvet satin material flowing, seemless, Syrah. Nice tannins, sweet again, in a good way, drying a bit with leather fruit secondary flavors emerging. Nice. Some bitter chocolate as well, some 5 hours later in the bottle she has some grip.

June 1, 2009 - Very dark purple color that fades a bit at the rim. The nose has a nice balance of blackberry, currant and wet stones. This wine is jam packed with black fruit flavors but it not overly ripe. The tannins are still a little gritty and mouth coating on the long finish but will lay down some with more bottle time.

October 5, 2008 - Decanted for 1 hour. Very dark color. Incredible nose and taste of dark fruit. Wonderful spice on the finish. Finish of 20 seconds or more. Very enjoyable.
