July 11, 2020 - Openned a magnum; still lots of freshness, fruit, and structure. Tannins are fairly well-integrated, and still has more years ahead of it.

May 4, 2019 - Perfect example of how to enjoy a fine aged wine. Decanted for 2 hours and enjoyed with friends, tenderloin and smoked Mac and cheese. Tannins balanced with jammy fruit and oak. Lovely at cellar temperature.

November 16, 2015 - Still big, and probably best for the end of a meal, with chocolate.

October 2, 2014 - Continues to mellow and improve. Still dark, dark purple, but the high alcohol -- over 100%! -- is better integrated.

January 17, 2014 - Yes, it is calming down. Still huge, and with years before it is finally resolved. Good on the east side of a polar vortex.

July 15, 2013 - Delectus is one of the brands that I have found to have consistently high quality in all their wines. The Petite Syrah is a delicious wine, with bold, velvety mouth feel and good fruit. It's balanced and entices you to take another sip. Though its 8 yrs, I detected no sign of aging that would worry me.

May 2, 2013 - Whoa. Wow. Amazing. No flaws. No sediment. Minimal rim variation. Huge, big, old world nose. Very earthy/musky. Full fruit in the mouth. Dark berries. Low tannin. Medium alcohol. Medium finish. Amazing at 8 years. Doesn't appear to have suffered any hiccups at all in the bottle. I think this one easily will go another 8.

January 31, 2013 - Philip, Dave, Helen and Helen's Mother (Rachel - Bartender) at Jimmy V's.

Very good, needs more time. Dark Fruit and a bit of vanilla showing on the nose. Concentrated and robust on the palette with a decent amount of pepper. Definitely a porterhouse wine ;)

December 20, 2012 - So hot, so heavy. Can it calm down? 16.5% alcohol or thereabouts.

    2 on the AF scale.

November 10, 2011 - Drinking beautifully right now. I could easily have consumed the entire bottle....lovely dark wine and long finish. Exactly what I want in a PS. Will definitely look for more.
