December 28, 2017 - Dinner at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): Despite this having been opened two days ago, this is just as fresh, elegant, and delicious as I remember it a few months ago. There's a minute touch of sweetness here that balances with the greenness and the minerality so well. It's a fairly lean wine, without any oily or waxy textures either. Crisp and delicious, I love the longevity of this too...

September 14, 2017 - Prager Dinner with Robert Bodenstein (Chicago, IL): An outstanding dry riesling, perhaps because it didn't really come off as a super dry riesling at all. There are a few slight petrol notes that remind you that this is old riesling, but the real story here is that this wine is in an almost classic Kabinett style. There's some really nice yellow stone fruit here that lends the illusion of residual sugar. Couple this with a bit of green herbs and crisp minerality and you get a really good wine.

March 16, 2010 - Stellar bottle. Starts out a little tight, lanolin, smidge of petrol. In the mouth it seems broad and creamy in texture at first, but with air it freshens a lot and becomes more focused. Aromas of vanilla creme brulee give way to under ripe pineapple, mandarin orange and lime. Excellent length. Fairly big at 13.5% abv, but absolutely balanced. The last glass was the best, so while this is drinking great now, this could be held a little longer also. Wish I had a bunch more, wow. Pretty good with grilled halibut. This was the Weissenkirchen Smaragd Achleiten trocken bottling.

December 7, 2009 - I'd say this is well into the peak drinking window for me...perhaps it was just this bottle, but it was showing lots of secondary...lots of complexity on the palate. Drink one.
