April 18, 2024 - Classic nose of creosote, charred wood, blackberry and earth. Medium-bodied, this has a delightful texture that just glides across the palate now that the tannins have resolved. Salty minerallity and sweet blackberry fruit really shows itself on the finish. My last bottle, like saying goodbye to an old friend. Drink now 90

Note: This improved with 45 minutes in the decanter and is stil going strong at 1:15 post decant.

November 14, 2023 - Lovely, developed nose with touches of fresh blackberry and blackcurrant but dominated by tertiary forest floor, meat and mushroom. Medium bodied with mostly resolved tannins. Fully developed and falls apart with over an hour in the glass but enjoyable at first pour.

    WSET Notes:

    Deep garnet.

Pronounced on the nose with blackberry, blackcurrant, black currant leaf, cedar, clove, leather, tobacco, forest floor, mushroom, savoury notes. Fully developed.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. Medium body, medium alcohol, high acidity, medium plus tannins, long finish.

Drink now. Not suitable for aging or further aging.

January 23, 2023 - Tried this wine a few nights ago. Quite inexpensive (around $50 CAD) for a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel from a very good year for Bordeaux in general. This wine drank quite softly with a soft, round tannin. Colour becoming more garnet but still very primary fruit driven with some subtle leather and meatiness developing. Texturally it does feel a bit flabby so I'm not sure if this vintage will hold up past another 5 years, but it went quite well with Turkish kebab and baba ganoush!

January 11, 2023 - Aromatic, horsehide, leather, cedar, sous-bois, mushroom sauté, and dried currant nose. Medium-bodied, elegant, evolved, and balanced palate; still good and fresh on the complex finish.
