August 26, 2019 - This definitely exceeded expectations. Classic Bordeaux but with more plush fruit than I was expecting given the vintage. Drink or hold a little longer. Great value at 15 euros or so.

July 20, 2017 - Surprisingly solid for this vintage, but still, it is a 2007 ! Drinking window engaged :)

    June 25, 2017 - 58% CS, 33% M, 6% PV, 3% CF
Slightly bricked garnet red, compact rim, more red than purple.

Pretty bouquet - red cherry, dried herbal aromas, leather, tobacco, mineral.

The palate is harmonious. Integrated tannin, med plus acidity, dry, medium bodied. Showing a lot of red fruit character, animalistic, floral. Very classic Margaux-esque character.

This wine is at the perfect drinking spot. No need at all to wait. After a solid month of drinking full bodied, extracted Napa Cab, this is a welcome reprieve! 90.

June 2, 2017 - Here is the bet. This wine is a simpleton. Moderate nose of cedar, saddle, dried herbs,,,,,again moderate. A bit awkward on the palate, tending towards red fruits. I have seen this with other cantemerle. Almost muted and shutdown or awkward. Soooo, wait 7-10 years and pray for a miracle (it has enough acidity to make this a plausible senerio), or grab a steak and drink as a unimpressive awkward quaf! Very short finish, very light on the attack!

(Château Cantemerle) Dark red violet color; nice plum, olive, herbaceous, menthol, cedar nose; tight cassis, plum, herbaceous palate; medium finish (50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot; needs 1 to 2 years, should age for 10 to 12 years)

(Chateau Cantemerle Haut-Médoc) A surprisingly pretty style of wine here, with fresh, gravelly red fruits, not at all forced, with a gentle application of wood. Softly textured, with chalky tannins, a nice lightly plump style. Perhaps a touch charcoaly, but nicely dense in the middle. At least it hasn't been overworked.
