April 22, 2020 - Red fruit (cherry) and spice on the palate. Smooth finish. The tannins are very smooth. Unfortunately, I don't think this wine has much life left in it.
October 21, 2019 - 3/4 stained cork on 1/2 of its side, but the stiff bark held up on pull. This shows oxidative scents of salami meats, white-flowers/honey and maybe just a bit of cherry. This was juicy and fresh on the entry turning dry and more astringent into the lengthy, tobacco and burnt toast finish. The mouthfeel is silky and refined at this late stage. Nice acidity. Loads of dusty, fully integrated tannins paint the mouth and teeth with each sip. This bottle probably peaked some years back, but it had the structure and balance to hold on to its hilt into these geriatric years. It should make a fine food wine tonight, and, I hope, for the next couple of days.
January 20, 2015 - nice body and good acidity, but would like more upfront fruit. Good food winw
September 24, 2012 - Decanted for about 3 hours. Lovely sweet red fruit (Grenache) and baking spices. Very balanced.
September 9, 2012 - This wine shows sweet candy-like red fruit in a medium body frame with soft tannins.
Score based on $20. Alc 14%.
April 23, 2011 - Cork may have been have flaw, wine pushing up toward top of cork....heat on tast alcohol...
March 25, 2010 - decanted for about 90 minutes before first glass. On the nose there was strawberries and a spicy component. On the palate the wine had smooth tannins. There was raspberries and some clove.
March 21, 2010 - Decent Tuscan wine; a little too pricey and there are better wines for cheaper. Overall pretty good.
February 1, 2010 - Nice bottle. Smells of red fruit - raspberries, tart cherries, flowers and cherry cough syrup, as many have noted. Palate shows crushed red berries with secondary floral notes and a minty / menthol finish. Nice fruit and decent all around.
January 1, 2010 - Smells and tastes like that red life saver candy. This is pretty and red-fruity. I didn't really pick up earthiness, and this tastes quite different from the same grapes of southern rhone. This score may be right if you like this style of wine. If you're a dry earthy full-body bordeaux drinker, this probably isn't for you.
