December 21, 2023 - Quite a transformation since last bottle I opened 12 months ago. This has come into much better balance. Medium body. Slightly browning robe. Heavy wood influence that is the only noticeable scent on the nose, and it dominates the palate but is integrating with the fruit, which is kind of a bramble berry mix. The one offputting note is a gooseberry/stinky tar note. Slightly tannic into the finish. Based on the improvement from 1 year ago to now, I believe this will be in a great spot with upside from my current rating in DEC 2024 and beyond. It’s enjoyable now however. Pair it with heavier food.

January 15, 2023 - Nice spicy berry notes on the nose, but thin and acidic on the palate. Drank over 4+ hours from decanter and did not seem to improve with air.

December 19, 2022 - Light body. Browning robe. Still a bit tight and a little disjointed, but the clos vougeot strawberry notes are present, albeit masked in some heavy wood (oak or stems I can’t quite tell) and sauvage. This needs another 2 years or so to come into further balance. On day 2 this tastes like a Barolo. Very strange.

April 24, 2022 - Young still but giving. A very tasty high-end Burgundy.

March 11, 2022 - La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Big, ripe and powerful, this has unmistakable Grand Cru density. Lots here, even if slightly awkward textures right now.

November 5, 2021 - {Purchased on release by Massachusetts Confrerie; poured at annual dinner} Sensational wine, very complete and long, surprisingly excellent depth and length. Great showing and a strong argument for the 2006 vintage. Grand Cru in terms of being a complete and balanced wine. Much better than the other (tepid) notes in Cellartracker would suggest.

May 7, 2018 - Tasted blind in a tasting of Clos Vougeots: fullish, youthful color; solid fresh nose of young burgundy; richness, shoe polish (nitro benzene thing working). Nice depth and fullness. Should develop nicely yet.

August 4, 2014 - Big smoky, floral lift to the nose. There are notes of smoked meats and dense cherry and plum fruit. It is rich, dense and sappy in the mouth with good volume and a nice plush feel in the mouth. It finishes with good cut and leaves a mineral impression long after its swallowed. Just starting to loosen up a little but still plenty of cellar time needed.
