April 8, 2013 - The wine is a deep, dark, inky purple to black color. The dark and inviting nose has black berries, black pepper, smoked meat, dark bittersweet chocolate, melted licorice, Asian spices, dried herbs, and a touch of earthiness. This has a fairly full body, fairly solid, ripe tannins, and good acidity. The palate has some nice up front berries, but loads of smoked meat, black pepper, dark chocolate, and earthiness take over fairly quickly. The finish has nice length and again features the savory elements with the fruit adding a nice jolt of sweetness. This is in a real nice place but should last another couple of years in the cellar.

January 5, 2013 - I really enjoyed this wine. This was the first bottle I had opened in over 18 months and it has really matured. My brother a CIA trained chef and super taster also thought it was a great bottle for the price. Barnyard, jammy with a little spice. and a great example of what a quality Syrah can be at a decent price point. Probably going to start being past it's prime soon - so it's time to drink it up if you have it.

November 3, 2012 - The wine is a very dark maroon, almost black color. The deep, dark, brooding nose features dark chocolate, smoked meat, blackberries, black pepper, dried herbs, A1 steak sauce, smoky embers, and some earthiness. The wine fairly full bodied and has solid, ripe tannins and good acidity. On the palate the wine shows some nice fruit but the savory elements are the stars. Loads of charred, smoked meat, pepper, and dark chocolate take center stage. The finish is fairly long with the dark chocolate and meaty elements slowly fading. A really nice bottle of wine, in my opinion.

June 28, 2012 - Great syrah for the price. Nice complexity and balance.

October 17, 2011 - Nose is pleasant but not overly expressive; hints of mint, black raspberry, and tar. Silky mouthfeel with black fruits, caramel palate. Finish is medium-long with firm acidity and tannins and a lingering but pleasant alcohol burn.
