May 29, 2021 - Decent bottle. Nose on sweet red berries. On the palate it's silky, with medium acidity and fruit. Though not amazingly complex, this is an enjoyable wine that aged well.

November 8, 2019 - From Benchmark, cork only soaked to the bottom 3rd. Mature, translucent brick red. Followed over 3+ hours. Initially typical mature can notes of earth, tea, hint of leather and dried cherries. Funky mushroomy topnote. Good concentration and acidity. On the palate, mature mushroom notes prevail with some sour cherries on the finish. No discernible sweetness like in some maturing California wines, but more pliancy and ripeness than a Bordeaux with similar bottle age. Kept at the same level the first 2.5 hours. By the third hour, began to narrow just a bit with the earth/mushroom qualities fading and more linear sour cherries throughout the palate.

Overall, a great wine experience. Didn't quite get to the superlative level of the 74 Mondavi I had recently, but certainly nice wine. Perhaps just a difference in style and palate...

November 14, 2018 - I have had a lot of bottles of the 85 Jordan. Even with Rob Davis the wine maker. I first had this wine 20 years ago. At that time it was soooo good I had to call a friend to share it. I couldn't drink it by myself. 20 years later it is still sooo good but definitely 20 years older. It is just wonderful but I love old low alcahol wines. Would you like it? Probably not if you are a milllenial. The new generation loves new wine. I am 71 and I prefer old wine. This is a superb wine. Made in the shadow of the Master Andre Tchelistchef. Balance is all things and ALSO cleanliness of the process including the barrels. This is JORDAN. Bravo.

October 27, 2018 - This bottle was past peak. Not bad but had oxidized notes and teriyaki. Fruit still good but soft.

September 15, 2018 - Another remarkable bottle. I opened it, and let it sit in bottle for an hour. I then decanted it for an hour. A little fine sediment, deep garnet color with no bricking. Dark fruit flavors, tannins still evident, definitely less cedar and tobacco than the previous bottle. Still beautifully holding together after 4 hours.
