August 7, 2021 - 9 years since I had one of these it seems!
Quite consistent with the last note: it hasn’t come on so much.
Lovely but still tight nose of red fruits, pepper. Intense, taut and acidic palate with a deep black fruit core, smoke and still significant tannic crunch on the finish.
A little bit disjointed but lovely & a really interesting wine.

April 10, 2021 - Light kola nut nose. Light and ethereal texture. Shadow berries. Slight earth. Soft and wholly mature, if not on the slight down slope with a little oxidation note. Finished with a wide spread of fruit, nut oil, blood and leather. Lovely.

August 31, 2020 - Another Daniel Johnnes blind. My call was way off, as I thought it was much younger. This had some really good structure with dark almost purple fruit. This has such a long life ahead of it, I'd love to try it in 10 years. I love older Montille.

March 6, 2020 - La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting, in 12/07/99 vertical. Lighter color. Ripe fruit, fully mature, still showing a little more structure than the body can support.

March 6, 2020 - The Verticals Tasting at 2020 La Paulée de New York (Eventi Hotel, New York): Light color. Sweaty, harshly earthy and acidic. Ah, that old de Montille style. Not for me and well past its enjoyable life span for most people, I'd think.
