August 13, 2023 - Perfect cork and perfect level .
Ruby red with a soft rim.
Subdued nose at first, took a while to open up and express some gentle crushed berry and spice aromas, nothing in the developed end of the spectrum. Fairly muted.
Cherry fruit and a little zest, a soft hint of earth,
Reasonable acidity, tannins very soft, overall impression is old age despite the lack of oxidative characters. A decent drink but nothing special these days.

December 3, 2020 - Very muted nose, mature color but certainly still quite harsh on palate which actually after having a similar 96 dujac cdlr recently I wasn’t surprised. 96 burgundy just doesn’t seem ready yet. Especially the good appallations and makers. Hope more cellar time helps to open this up eventually.

January 1, 2019 - New Year's Day, 2019 Pokai Parera (Pokai Parera, Ekatahuna, New Zealand): The nose on this wine is extraordinary, but the hardness of the palate brings this wine down for me. A brilliant product of the vintage, in that the nose is close to as good as Burgundy gets (and is enthralling in its forest floor complexity and bottle aged nuance), but while the palate demonstrates world-class layering, the acids really lend a distinct personality that you are either going to appreciate for its expression of the vintage, or dislike because it just isn't too much fun in the mouth. So, 98 point nose, and 83 point palate = 90.

December 11, 2018 - By now, this supposedly excellent wine should be showing its cards. If so, this is very disappointing. Mature color. Faint non-descript nose. Rather dull on the palate with hints of sour cherry and balsam. Harsh finish. This could be any older Burgundy and it’s certainly not charming.
