May 15, 2011 - Excellent wine and certainly one the best American Pinot Gris/ Grigio that I have tasted. Stone-fruit (lychee, pear) with oily/ glycerin taste that is usually only found in Alsatian wines.

May 8, 2010 - My mom needed a second glass. She is not the biggest wine drinker but this stuff is that good. It will make a believer out of all.

March 3, 2010 - Very fruit forward. Pineapple hits the front of the palate, then fades to peach flavors with a tart grapefruity finish. I would love to have this again, chilled on a summer afternoon.

January 23, 2010 - Italian Varietals from WA/OR/CA and Italy...Blind; 1/23/2010-1/24/2010 (Eastside Wine Storage): nose: some funkiness, also some flower stems
palate: way sweeter on the palate than the nose would lead me to believe. Almost too sweet, like sugar was added.
Compared to the Bethel Heights pinot blanc, this was much less balanced and a lot more fake. Blind tasting sure does change a palate.

August 23, 2009 - This supercharged Pinot Gris is big and thick and brimming with tropical fruit. There is acidity to balance the abundance of ripe fruit and the high alcohol doesn't immediately burn. Amazingly, there also seems to be some residual sugar.

July 4, 2009 - Nose is a bit reticent. I get some tropical fruit, maybe mustard green and a bit of dried fruit. Thick mouthfeel and an immediate sweetness that suggests this isn't bone dry. Very easy to drink.

June 21, 2009 - I had this one on Father's Day with some Penne Carbonara. No formal note, but this had the highest alcohol content (15.6%) of any white wine I've ever had. It held up very well, didn't taste hot at all. It had a very rich, dense mouthfeel. A decadent wine, that paired nicely with the meal, and one I highly recommend.

May 1, 2009 - 07 Navarro Pinot Gris v 07 Breggo Pinot Gris (Our House (Rockridge, Oakland, CA)): Popped and poured and drinking very well. It's richer than the Navarro (not necessarily better just richer/more unctuous). More peach, honey, spice and a little melon flavors in a pretty full bodied but crisp package. It is a little sweeter as well, suggesting that it may have a little more RS than the Navarro but i really enjoyed it and it went very well with the farfalle with bacon and endives.

January 26, 2009 - Sweet and tart tropical fruit, honey, minerals and a peppery sensation. This wine is powerful, rich and unctuous, with a slight alcohol burn at the end of a long finish. Very impressive.

December 17, 2008 - This wine tasted fabulously at the winery, but was quite a disappointment when opened in a not-very-chilled state at home. After it went back in the freezer for a quick cooling, it tasted much better, but it still didn't reach the heights of the impression it gave when tasted in Anderson Valley.
Nevertheless, this is a well crafted medium to full bodied Pinot Gris with the typical nose of green apple and light cherry blossom flavors on the palate. The high alcohol (15.6%) shows and it catches up with you quickly, but the wine is not "hot". Overall, this is a good buy if you don't mind the high alcohol content--the wine's main disadvantage in my opinion.
