March 24, 2024 - AW95. Wow this is fantastic and in clearly drinking in a peak window - the oldest block at J Rochioli. Bramble, cherry, spices onto a med-long finish - lovely perfume evolving after 30 mins in the glass. This was from excellent storage, provenance and it shows. Last bottle from an auction batch, I will remember this one.
November 24, 2022 - Excellent Pinot Noir. Drinking well
August 27, 2022 - A Night of Rochioli (Mostly West Block) (Classic Dallas): Pretty closed at first for me. Very shy aromas with some tart cherries. Nose was a bit more open than the 2005 bottling. Palate with some fruit and moderate tannins. Not much at first. Later in the evening, the wine opened up with aromas of baking spices, bark, earth, herbs, and some red fruit. Mix of tart red and ripe black cherries on palate, bark, and some oak spice. Nice acids on a full body. Better balance and liked this more than the 05 version.
April 30, 2022 - rich, ruby, in color. pomegranate, cranberry, dark cherry, black plum, black tea, tobacco, damp soil, garrigue, anise, spice. rich, elegant, dark red fruits, on the finish.
April 17, 2022 - Tremendous RR pinot. Not showing any age and beautifully balanced between plum/cherry fruit and tannins.
March 25, 2021 - Still yummy. Nice balanced soft fruit. No bricking. Probably at its best now.
October 8, 2020 - Garnet in color. 14.4% ABV. Spellbinding nose of red fruits, cloves, baking spices and forest floor. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Concentration and power that belies 14 years of bottle age. Cranberry, pomegranate, black tea and earth on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long and silky. Outstanding West Block from a marginal vintage. Best over the next 1-2 years.
April 19, 2020 - Enjoyed for an old CA Pinot. Still a bit of life left.
April 26, 2018 - What a great wine that is drinking great right now. Tons of red fruits, low tannin, elegant and just delicious. Rochioli is one of my favorites.
December 30, 2017 - Great Pinot
