March 26, 2022 - From the wine list at Teton Pines. (Half bottle) Lemon, yellow peach, on a minerally base. Vibrant, with a long finish. Paired with cream of asparagus soup (mediocre soup, which made the wine stand out) followed by truffle risotto with asparagus, to which the wine admirably stood up. Lovely.
April 5, 2019 - In a prime drinking window for those who like some age on their German Riesling, this has developed a smoky overlay to the fruit, as well as a very interesting textural style. It wanders between creamy and oily, then the acidity takes over in the finish. It is still characteristic of the 2007 vintage, so if you are looking for laser focused acidity, I would choose a different vintage. There is never a bad vintage of Saarburger Rausch Kabinett. They just reflect the site, and the conditions of the year.
September 15, 2015 - BeRauschend zitro-cantaloupe-lastige Frucht, feine Würze und wunderbar "spritzige" Spannung
October 25, 2014 - From a half bottle, this wine had a light yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose displayed citrus, honey, and Riesling funk.
This wine was a bit watery in the mouth at first but firmed up nicely with air. It had a medium body and excellent length.
While this is drinking, it will last for years.
April 1, 2012 - Flat, thin, some Petrol notes. Maybe bad storage???
February 14, 2012 - Crushed rock, lemon zest, lemon pith and a bit of petrol on the nose. Light to medium bodied with low to medium acidity. Meyer lemon and peach on entry, transitioning to minerals and lemon pith. Nice now but will probably reward patience.
May 20, 2011 - Clear light lemon colour.
Nose is strong with lemon and limestone notes. A bit pungent.
Medium-full palette has a hint of residual sugar. Yet dry after high acid kick. Lemon notes last for long with a bit of peach stone.
March 4, 2011 - Apple, pear, peach, very fresh, and zingy and tangy; viscous, smooth, creamy , sweet, and nice with a long finish. Excellent terroir and vibrancy.
February 23, 2011 - Some residual sweetness, so not as dry as one might expect. Complex, with lychee, peach, honey and green apple flavors. Good, fullish body and a dry finish.
December 16, 2010 - [The cork wasn't in good condition, so this could have affected the quality of this bottle.] Nice nose of orange sherbet, limes, some peaches, and a little petrol. Starts fairly sweet but ends fairly dry. Nice minerality. Not enough acidity for me, but still very pleasant.
