February 15, 2020 - Much better in the nose than on the palate. Bouquet of wild berries, cedar wood, earthy aromas, good minerality. In the nose very interesting and nice. On the palate sharp tannins which are not balanced with fruity. Medium long nice finish. Overall a very nice wine but definitely does not meet the expectations of its name.

February 2, 2020 - Ready to drink, the wine is simple, fresh, bright, and on the red fruit side with its strawberry, cherry and cassis personality. The wine is not overly complex and a it’s a little bit lean and green on the palate. This is what my friends from across the pond call a proper, classic luncheon claret.

January 26, 2020 - Second last bottle of this case - now in gentle decline - still a lovely claret

January 2, 2020 - Still quite a bit of tannin. Needed about half an hour in the glass to soften sufficiently. Textbook Bordeaux nose. Cedar and pencil shavings. Quite dense. Very dry attack, leather and charred wood, although there is a touch of ripe berry at the end. Decent length. Started to die in the glass after about 3 hours. Probably as good as it gets. Not a bad showing for a '94, and definitely better than I expected.

(Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac) A moderate depth of colour. Fairly closed nose, showing some dark fruit, a few nutty notes. Otherwise reserved. Dry, lean, reserved palate. Lots of structure beneath, tannic finish. Decent texture at best. Would be better with food, and doesn't show well in this sort of tasting. Certainly doesn't show as well as my last tasting of it, either. Merely good.

(Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac) This wine has a much more promising colour. A moderately dense youthful purple, with no real sign of age around the rim. A pleasing nose, with roasted nut and blackcurrant aromas, more classically Mouton than the 93. Good fruit on the palate, backed up by some weight and integrating tannins. Correct acidity means this classic, fairly stylish wine is a keeper. Should reach maturity in 5-10 years.
