December 28, 2023 - Really hitting its stride now. I had this vintage a few years back and gave it only a 2.5 star rating out of 5. Alcohol and tannins have mellowed since then, and the wine is less austere overall. Nose is wet stone, liquorice and violets. Palate is supple yet still fresh. Acidity and fruit are nicely balanced. Drank this with a very rich meal. and it had the freshness to cut through the heavy sauces.

November 4, 2019 - Was sure it was not going to be great just trying to thin out my wines that are at end of the drinking window. To my surprise it was fantastic Decanted for just a few minutes and it was ready to go. Very happily surprised.

January 8, 2016 - Decanted for 3 hrs, very tannic and unapproachable right after opening. It needed all the 3 hrs in the decanter to show what a good wine is this one. Perfect balance between velvety body, dark fruity character and well tuned freshness that comes closer to Bordeaux than to new world efforts. Very smooth transition from the nose to the palate and the after taste -all that in a harmonious way. Clearly WOTN and liked by everyone.

January 19, 2015 - A full bodied wine, high in tannins (soft), showing good complexity (black cherry, coffee, plum, chocolate). Flavour intensity could have been greater, but otherwise a lovely wine ready for drinking now.

November 7, 2014 - Deep dark fruited and full bodied. Concentrated notes of bramble, plum, blackcurrant, blackberry and dark chocolate. Tannins are still pretty firm and a little drying. Reasonable acidity. Medium length. Good but a little one dimensional and still very primary characteristics.

October 13, 2014 - Weekly tasting group #138; Rothschild (@ WW): Cassis, vanilla and coconut in the bouquet. On the palate a concentrated wine with dark forest fruits, graphite, chocolate, a touch of sweetness, good acidity and soft and round, but firm tannin. Ready now and no real hurry.

February 16, 2014 - Coravined. Consumed about 2/3 of the bottle. Black-purple color. Ripe nose of dried plums and berries. Thick tannic. Not overly ripe. Could use another year or two, but might become more austere. Appealing, esp. with steak, but not complex.
