May 29, 2021 - Outstanding wine. Previous bottle 10 years ago not quite ready. This one had structure and silky tannins but fruit slightly faded. Medium to full body, real depth and long finish. Profound. *****

November 22, 2020 - From 75cl of impeccable provenance; optically exquisite cork, with only 1 to 2mm staining back from wine end; decanted 30 minutes for copious powdery sediment. Scent deteriorated quite quickly after opening: initially as darky fragrant as expected, the nose quickly lost any real focus and intensity. Such a shame, because the palate remained vibrant. Superb ripe-acid lift on the entry makes you think the wine will be as feather-light as the 13% alc. on the label suggest, but the mid-palate develops the sort of penetrating, intensely acidic ripe dark loganberry-blackberry fruit I still remember from the 1994 Janus GR (or might indeed associate with a heavenly Aussie Shiraz, just without the excess sweetness, syrupy texture and, of course, roughly 2 to 3% extra alcohol). Long, fine, vivid finish. We both felt that this particular bottle might have been at its best 5 to 10 years ago, and alas represented a small disappointment for the 77 EUR we paid. Though these days I'm just relieved to draw any natural cork and not smell TCA. We did, however, agree that another bottle which had managed to preserve the scent its exceptional contents (potentially? once upon a time? probably?) offered might indeed still scale the 95P+ heights recorded below. Screwcaps anyone? Glass stoppers? 91(-9X)P

December 21, 2019 - Truly an exceptional bottle. One of the top five wines I’ve had the pleasure to savor! Exquisite bouquet of chocolates, cherries & red berries combined with near perfect tannic structure. Finish exploded in the mouth, & this all lasted for nearly two hours with no degradation. Decanted for 20-25 minutes before drinking, but the behavior of the wine throughout the evening was consistent & steadily improved from a magnificent beginning.

I don’t write many reviews, but this particular wine & vintage (at least this individual bottle),IMHO, is in the same class as some of the best wines I’ve ever had including a 1987 Haut Brion & a 1991 Chateau Margaux!

November 20, 2019 - Beautiful dark ruby red. Very complex on the nose. It smells like strawberry, oak, cherry fruit and tobacco. Sweet soft tannins, it tastes like black currant (cassis), coffee, oak and black olive. Very good balance of acidity. Wonderful. Drink up now.
