August 15, 2016 - Dinner with Jeffrey and Alberto at the Osteria Dei Sognatori, Alba: Popped and poured. Light colour. Beautiful aromatics. Roses, red currants, dried brushwood and gentle spices. Sweet entry, then elegant and fresh with soft, mellowed, round tannins. Earthy with dried red fruit. Just a beautiful, mature Barolo. Both Jeff and Alberto picked it as a '98 Barbaresco (and it showed the refinement of a top quality Barbaresco). It paired very well with the butter and sage ravioli. Finishing the last glass the next day, it was still drinkable but the fruit had slipped away a little, exposing the acids. Not a wine for a long decant.

September 10, 2014 - tried over three nights and it was bereft of fruit and dried out on each night, not bad to drink but not good either

August 18, 2014 - On the pnp it was more tannins than fruit on the palate and a little drying on the finish, may well open up, update to come

April 12, 2011 - 1995: Barolo Retrospective (i Trulli, NYC): The nose showed dusty potpourri with bright cherry, cedar and spice box. The palate was firm, showing masses of structure, as rich cherry fruit countered by earthy clay and dusty minerals swept across the senses. The finish was long and revealed crushed red fruits as the wine’s tannins slowly faded away. It was the utter balance and sheer focus of fruit that truly blew me away when drinking the 1995 Vietti Lazzarito.

November 14, 2010 - After some time decanting, it's clearly Barolo, and very nice to drink, but I expected more. I don't think this single-vineyard '95 is as good as Vietti's '04 Castiglione; blended from different parcels, and much less expensive.
