May 29, 2020 - Our first wine of the evening after the champagne and it was a great start with a classic Bordeaux. Dark in color and fully open after 2 hours of air time in the glass. Typical Pauillac aromas of cigar box, tobacco, hints of green pepper. On the palate plenty of dark fruit and chocolate. Tannins were smooth and this was drinking very nicely.

September 1, 2019 - 2nd bottle from OWC. A soft, well balanced wine, with some fruit, and a long, if not bold, finish. This is what claret used to - and I daresay is supposed to - taste like. Certainly ready now, but should be equally pleasant for another ten years, at least.

    November 17, 2018 - Made from Cabernet Sauvignon (70 %), Merlot (25 %), Petit Verdot (2 %), Cabernet franc (3 %).

Intense dark brownish colour. Despite its age, the acidity is highly pronounced, but balanced and w. a good tannic structure. Still alive and w. good finesse and relatively complex profile. Almost an antithesis of modern Bordeaux after Parker.

My notes: Green bell pepper, pepper, herbs, acidic coffee, leather, musk and a tiny plum.

September 1, 2018 - Like many of the other recent tasting notes, I had to agree with giving this at least 93 points (I did think about giving 94). In the glass, this was very clear, garnet red core with some orange hints at the rim (but looked a lot younger than a 67 pape clement drank alongside). The nose was typical bordeaux, very mature, but with lovely Chocloate and coffee notes. Perfectly balanced, smooth and with no noticeable tannins. A wonderful wine and why bordeaux is so special. Drink now.

October 12, 2017 - Just had the Batailley 1970 which has history on its side and you know theres a sympathy and romanticism when you have an old wine. The 1985 is good and much younger. Yeah fair pkay 15yrs is a long time. But more generic. All good ana balanced. A little sour restraint (which is never my thing) and emphatic carbohydrate.
