Community Tasting Notes 3

September 5, 2013 - Opened by Otis at his CDP. Drank next to a 2002 Ridge Monte Bello. The grapes for this wine were sourced from the Monte Bello vineyard so it was a pleasure to drink the 2 Monte Bello wines from vintages 42 years apart. Holding up surprisingly well. A reddish orange color. Notes of shitake mushroom, cedar and a little spice on the finish. Old world bordeaux character. Dusty tannins. 91-92 points.

August 24, 2013 - Beautiful notes of cedar, leather, florals- violets and lavender- and dried currants. Plenty of fruit on the palate. Lovely.

May 28, 2010 - Crappy Old Wines (Nazca Peruvian Restaurant, San Jose): Amazing; this wine is 50 years old. Mushroom and floral nose. Tart blackcurrant, rosemary, forest floor. Some leather, but less than I'd expected. WOTN candidate
