December 22, 2021 - PNP 2 bottles last night. Wine was great from the start. Well integrated fruit and earth with no fall off of either for the 90 minutes it took to finish the bottles. drink now or within next 3 years...

December 9, 2021 - Bottle at restaurant. Old but in fantastic condition. Beautifully balanced acidity and tannins - old wine characteristics like mushrooms, forest floor. Still some fruit but pretty subdued. Nose had some balsamic notes perhaps - some meat notes but maybe because we were in a churrascario. If this wine has been cellared properly, it is a treat.

November 24, 2021 - Interesting nose of beef broth, chocolate and cocoa. Nice black fruit. Tannins waning but acidity beginning to dominate the fruit. Drink up.

February 9, 2018 - Pretty big nose of plum and cherry.
Three years ago, I noted that the fruit was still there but was fading. And I think this has come to pass. There is some plum but in general the fruit has faded away.
The tannins are fine but the acidity has moved into your face and takes away from the enjoyment even with food.

October 21, 2017 - Very cabbish and dry/modern--beef bouillion and wood prominent, doesn't seem as old--or Italian--as it is. Good but circumstantially disadvantaged with the food which had shown so well with the generous Brunello and old CdP that preceded it--this needed meat.

October 19, 2017 - Medium red. Lovely nose of earth, black currant, cherry, roasted beef and cedar box. Delicious dark fruit and beef flavours and a long tannic finish. Still could show improvement.

September 21, 2015 - Still fairly vigorous. Right now tannins are integrated though still assertive. Structure is good. However, a classic Cabernet profile dominates and the aromatics are muted and tertiary characteristics are limited. Fine drinking now but you may want give it a bit longer of twirl in the cellar.

September 17, 2014 - My first perfect score!! What can I say, from the very start a beautiful silky mouthfeel of beautiful floral then crushed berries then licorice and finally espresso flavors.... a finish that would not stop, literally 20 minutes long. If Italy had first growths, this would be it. A SUPER Tuscan on steroids, drinking absolutely amazingly now. Paired with foie gras, lamb chops, and chocolate cake.

July 17, 2013 - Drank last evening with grilled porterhouse. Really nice. Probably should have decanted since there was a ton of sediment. Tannins are tamed. Some remnants of dark fruit remain but they are starting to move into the background. Spice and earth notes starting to emerge. Would have liked to have tasted after a couple of hours but it disappeared quickly. I guess everyone liked it.
