September 6, 2019 - Peach, apricot, lime, honey and white flowers. Great balance, can age longer but very nice now

August 24, 2019 - From .375, light hay, green shades, some spritz in glass when first opened. Palate is modestly sweet, balanced, minerally, even delicate. After sitting in glass overnight, palate is honey, white nectarine, sweetness is amazingly understated and elegant. Light to medium bodied. Long finish. More subtle sweetness than spatlese, which was that much more subtle than kabinett. Each step up is not really sweeter, just more elegant and if you can wait another five or ten years, will be worth the premium.

August 23, 2019 - Cellar stored since acquisition. Bottle decanted for about an hour. Enjoyed over the next couple of hours. I get notes of tropical fruit and sweet botanicals on the nose. There is honey and apple on the palate with a medium finish. I enjoyed the wine more once it warmed up from bottle temperature (about 45F). It still tastes fresh and young to me. My only wonderment is that the wine feels more delicate than I am used to with a Prum. I guess we’ll see how it is in a couple of years.

UPDATE: I’m changing my rating from 91 to 93 and backing away from the delicate comment. Six hours after opening the wine and it is singing now. The finish is much more pronounced and longer. This is going to be an excellent wine with a little more time. I would recommend holding it for a couple more years before drinking or give it a healthy decant.

July 20, 2019 - A Few Days in Seattle; 7/19/2019-7/21/2019: Clear yellow with a touch of green. A bit of spritziness remains. Marvelous combination of apple jelly, lime, and vanilla scents. I don't get much if any botrytis. Medium body, medium level of sweetness for a straight Auslese, not particularly prominent acidity but enough to keep it from feeling soft, and a dash of slate at the end. Certainly close to maturity, but no secondary notes yet. Not the most electric or chiseled wine, but the fruit is so gorgeous and pristine that it beats back any minor criticism.

July 13, 2019 - Prior bottle was nearly a year ago and this wine continues to show superbly. Honey, pineapple, tart peach and white cherry on the very pretty nose. Remains between medium and full bodied with peach and apple upfront, excellent mid-body depth where a mixture of light honey and expressive tropical fruit combine to create a wine of depth and refinement. Floral and mineral notes show up on the finish. But what truly sets this wine apart is the acidity. It's a vibrant presence throughout, providing contrast and complexity. It makes the wine feel youthful and bright and does a spectacular job of framing the richer fruit notes, allowing all the undertones and nuances to be better expressed. This was sadly my last bottle, so I will certainly have to find some more!

(AUSLESE JJ Prum W-S) 2007 JJ Prum Dear Friends, I'd like to go into more detail here but I've been unable to acquire a significant enough parcel to make a louder splash. This wine is so limited in 2007 it's almost silly - most state allocations are in bottles, not cases. Somehow Prum has harnessed the splendor of the 2007 vintage with an Auslese that will bowl you over. This portfolio continues to dominate in 2007 and I can't even imagine what the GK wines are like. This is actually a bargain Riesling that is worth the money and it's going to be a rarity after the first wave of allocations dissipates. EXTREMELY LIMITED ONE SHIPMENT ONLY directly from the winery cellar - we cannot get a second shipment 2007 JJ Prum Wehlener-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA germ3741
