February 9, 2017 - This was WOTN vs. a 2003 Harlan. Why? Character. Both wines were inky purple, concentrated, intense Calicabs. The Scarecrow needed an hour in the decanter to come around (a bit of VA smell needed to burn off). When it opened up it revealed smoke, earth, olive. In the mouth it was rich and intense cab with excellent grip and firmness for Cali. This really was a treat.

August 31, 2012 - Taste at Cut from a guest.
Overall I and the others who tasted the wine were underwhelmed.
Big and hot in fact. Nice elegant fruit. Rustic red berries. Black cherry and raspberry.
Rich leather, and so so big. Still, just wanted more finesse and mouth feel. Maybe it was opened too early, but still, an honor to sample.
