January 1, 2023 - Drinking extremely well. Everything is in order. Definitely an older CDP. Everything I come to expect from an aged CDP. Nothing is off. I think I picked this up the last two years. And it was sold as a refurbished/new bottle transfer, probably from the chateau. It was in an older bottle and put in a new bottle 4-5 years ago as I remember. So, the wine could age another thirty to sixty years in the new bottle and cork. I just opened it, not waiting that long.
Drinking again like a classic aged CDP.
*4th night white truffle arrives on the nose and palette. Still very vigorous bottle. Well made bottle.

September 27, 2021 - Deep crimson color with slight browning at the rim. Nose suggested excessive VA, and offered neither much fruit nor distinctive herbal character. This was dense with wild game, spice, and dark red fruits; palate was somewhat flabby, probably due to lack of acidity and over-maturity/bottle age. Still holding on but past its best.

April 26, 2012 - Old and Rare Châteauneuf-du-Pape Seminar (1955-1996) - Lead by Harry Karis (Hospice du Rhone, Paso Robles, CA): Fairly generous young, fruity, spicy nose. Drinking very well right now!!

March 22, 2012 - again w/harry karris @graileys fine wine shop for and old and rare cdp dinner. rich, smokey, black cherry leather soaked in cream. old cherry bubbly gum....and end scene. at this point i must have been over served because i didnt take notes on the: 79 fortia, 81 janasse, 86 lucien barrot, 89 banneret, and 90 chante cigale. the last three i do at least remember enjoying very much and i will seek those out...
