Community Tasting Notes 4

September 2, 2022 - 1972 Bordeaux horizontal tasting: Never had the 72 Forts so was curious to try side by side with the Grand Vin, Lafite and Mouton. While a perfect bottle with bottom neck fill this was considerably thinner than the Grand Vin, with sous bois and a touch of remaining fruit. Similar to 72 Mouton in style and quality.

March 14, 2014 - When this bottle placed on the table I was wondering, "A second label from a mediocre vintage in 70s where people only remember 70, 75 & 78, can this bottle still be drunk?". Even it is the 2nd label of Latour but I am not convinced it can age as good as 2nd Growth to hold more than 40 years. But well I am totally wrong...
Matured dark ruby/orange core with light brownish tinge, on the nose it has developed tertiary notes of dust, earth, tobacco and some herbal, dried tomato undertones. Complex and elegant. Amazingly dark rich and robust entry, still show some ripe fruits, with plenty of mineral, tobacco and some dried black fruits on palate. It has a very nice balance with medium+ bodied. Good lengthy finish with soft and fine tannins. 93+

February 11, 1991 - A Latour - Les Forts tasting: a brown colour, difficult bouquet, high acidity, some body, and drinkable.

April 1, 1985 - Not bad at all, but inevitable ('72!) very modest, a nice balance and a little bit of everything to make it a drinkable wine.
