Community Tasting Notes 4

August 15, 2012 - Served this blind to Heidi and she pretty much nailed it. She liked the fact that there was just a hint of leafy cabernet revealing itself so that she could use it as a marker but it retreated and left all of the engaging tertiary things front and centre. It is not full of flesh or sweet fruit but titillates with some floral notes coupled with sweet cedar and moss. Tannins are almost completely resolved and there’s still just a kiss of breezy acidity on the finish. This was a delightfully fresh bottle that had not a hint of oxidation. It partnered a Richard Olnay lamb shank recipe most amiably.

October 21, 1995 - Good depth, compact and elegant, 1981-freshness, fruit and a hint of vanilla, medicinal and inky, fragrant but light; mature, light, elegant, supple, well-balanced, lacks flesh but retains grip, redcurrants; adequate length. Not up to 2nd GCC level, but nice.

March 28, 1993 - A very pleasant 1981, inky Cabernet, lively and fresh, elegant, light and short but aromatic, not up to 2nd GCC standard.

May 6, 1991 - Light ruby red, starting to show some maturity; light and fresh nose, blueberries and redcurrants, ink and oak; clean and fresh palate, light and elegant, lacks flesh and concentration, resolved tannins, light structure but nice balance; good length. Assez bien but rather slight for a 2nd GCC.
