June 17, 2021 - Root Day - Decanted off about 5 ml (tsp) of fine and hard sediment. Garnet core out to a light garnet edge. Nose of dark plum, damp loam, red flowers, vanilla and sweet baking spices. Some development showing but still youthful on the nose. The back of the label suggests it’s a good wine to drink young - I guess 15 years in the cellar is young? Ripe black and red fruit on the immediate palate with some sous bois and tobacco. It’s very smooth and quite full bodied - drinking beautifully. The finish has some nice spice elements along with the dark fruit and tobacco. Fully resolved tannins and well balanced with sufficient acidity. My last bottle and I wish I had more.

March 31, 2016 - Past due to my opinion. But still round and well balanced.
Bit acidity and tertiary elements typical aging. Must be good before 3 4 years.

July 26, 2014 - Age has moved this to be fuller in body, dark fruits more pronounced over red, quite smooth with soft tannins. But at the same time, flavors are more one dimensional. In some respects it is easier drinking, but on the other it is a simpler wine.

September 7, 2013 - Medium bodied with red fruits dominant over black. Some spice and acidity keeps it fresh. Sour cherries and rasberries are quite evident. Friends enjoyed it.

April 4, 2012 - Banks at home: Well made. Medium body, well integrated. Very good wine.
